Mark Webster Jr '01Mark Webster Jr. '01 owns, operates and manages the only Fatburger Food Truck in Los Angeles, where he's served over 50,000 Fatburgers to many celebrities and hard-working Angelenos. New Bear on Campus

Cyrus the bearBlake's mascot, Cyrus the bear, underwent a makeover for the new school year. With the upgrade have come photo shoots, video appearances and invitations to numerous campus events, including the Saturday Social on Sept. 28 (details below). Make plans to attend this campaign celebration picnic and get your photo taken with Cyrus. Fun for fans of all ages!

Alumni Spotlight

A process pioneered by Sallie Sheldon '69 for using weevils to control invasive watermilfoil has shown promising results on Christmas Lake in Excelsior. Sallie piloted a program to breed and train weevils and returned to the lake this summer to check its progress. Lucy Kiernat '19 was among this summer's program volunteers and was interviewed for a Minnesota Public Radio story about the effort.

Christine Olson Gedye's '83 paintings will be on display in a solo show at the Fountainhead Gallery in Seattle in October. Preview the paintings from "Stillness: Quiet Moments in Harmony with Nature" on Christine's website.

An article in the Star Tribune shares the story of Aaron Rapport '99 and his wife, Joyce Heckman, who died within weeks of each other this summer, both from cancer.

Jeremiah Ellison '08, a first-term city council member representing north Minneapolis, was featured in a Star Tribune article about his transition from activist to authority and how he navigates civil rights issues.

Director Jo-Dean Seymour Rochelle '09 is working on her first feature-length film, Jasmine Star. She contributed an article to the blog Headed Somewear about influences in her life, including her parents, who immigrated to the U.S. from Jamaica, and Blake drama teacher Diane Landis.

Malcolm Kellner '11 was one of 12 contestants competing to win the grand prize money, a golden putter and a green plaid sport coat on the ABC mini-golf series "Holey Moley." Spoiler alert: he won! See highlights from the show.

Blake Fight Song Winners Announced

'28, Henry V. '31 and Amir Kats (Middle School instrumental director). The new song and chant will be unveiled during Legacy Day on Sept. 20. Paws Up, Claws Out!

Last Chance to Register for the Great Blake Get-Together

Cheer on Blake's Wolfpack football team to a homecoming victory at this casual, family friendly event with complimentary buffet and cash bar. Check out the full schedule of Blake's many exciting reunion events. See which of your classmates, teammates and teachers plan to attend. Registration ends Tuesday, Sept. 17. Don't Miss the Saturday Social!

Bear PawsDon't miss the Saturday Social on Sept. 28, 10am to 12:30pm. This campaign celebration picnic for one and all includes Adventures in Cardboard, a family art project and a chance to have your photo taken with Blake's mascot, Cyrus the bear. Enjoy fabulous food and sweet treats in the new Dining Commons while listening to live music performed by All Tomorrow’s Petty. Register by Friday, Sept. 20.

Nominations for Blake’s Alumni Board are welcome year-round, but considerations for the 2020-21 board close on Thursday, Oct. 31. Board members can serve up to two three-year terms and all alumni in good standing are eligible.
