'Above All — Good Fun': Blake Holiday Parties

Class of '79 at holiday party

On December 29, 1914, at the Blake School in Hopkins approximately 25 alumni, several members of the board of trustees and faculty gathered for a dinner to discuss forming a Blake School Alumni Association. This dinner started the tradition at Blake School of an annual alumni event in December.

In 1936, an informal gathering was held instead of what had become, by that time, the customary holiday luncheon. An invitation advertised, "NO SPEECHES! NO SONGS!" and "Chat with those old friends you don't often see. Learn about the recent happenings at Blake. There'll be food and refreshments, and above all — good fun!"

Read more about the history of Blake's alumni holiday gatherings, see photos from the archives and register for and see who's attending this year's Alumni Holiday Party. Happy holidays!
