Alumni Spotlight

Peter Heegaard '54 and Libby Forbes Utter '83 were named to Pollen's 2018 50 Over 50 list of the most inspiring and accomplished leaders from across Minnesota. Peter was recognized in the business category and Libby in nonprofit.

Jim Nelson '60 will be inducted into St. Thomas Opus College of Business's Minnesota Real Estate Hall of Fame on Nov. 7.

David Lyman '84 and Libby Carrier Doran '85, principals in the executive search firm LymanDoran, spoke with MinnPost about the Twin Cities labor market and the challenges businesses face in wooing employees.

Betsy Aldrich '85 and Chris Geer Dean '89 competed in the MGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship on Oct. 3 at Legends Club in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Betsy finished T3, with 78-77—155 (+11), and Chris finished T3, 77-78—155.

St. Olaf College presented Wendy Helgemo '87 with its 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award for her work as an advocate for Native Americans in the areas of public health, education, housing and economic security.

Anne Ursu '91 has published a new book, "The Lost Girl," a story of the power of fantasy, the limits of love and the struggles inherent in growing up.

Dan Slater's '96 latest book, "The Officer and the Entrepreneur," tells the true story of returning soldiers who become targets of a government-run sting operation. "The Officer and the Entrepreneur" is in development for a TV series from Oscar-winning producer Cathy Schulman.

This fall, Michael Ankeny '09 announced his retirement from World Cup ski racing. He reflects on his career in this article on skiracing.com.

Filmmaker Ike Frans '15 is working on his latest documentary, "The Pipe Carriers," which tells the story of Little Earth of United Tribes and its residents' fight to improve their community in the face of drugs and violence.

During her senior year and this past summer, Hannah Korslund '16 shared her passion for science by volunteering to teach middle school students attending LearningWorks. Read more about her experience in this month's LW Teacher Profile.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office Community Leadership Awards honored Grace Vojta '19, Maddie Tix '19, CC Wallin '18 and Olivia Bizal '19 for their work raising awareness and funds to fight sex trafficking.
