Libby King MacFarlane '04 is the director of product experience design at Optum in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and a founder and board member of HeartMind International. She is also a singer-songwriter, yoga-teacher certified, adventure-seeker, environmentalist, feminist and outdoor enthusiast. She and her mom have traveled the world together and may write a book about their adventures. Read this month’s Bear Pause to find out who some think could play Libby in the movie version.

Q&A with Dion Crushshon '88, Director of Global Programs

Early gifts to Excellence Accelerated and the Higgins Family Global Education Fund have provided support for the launch of a new era of global immersion programming at Blake. Next year, Blake Upper School faculty member Dion Crushshon will begin serving as director of global programs. Read more

When Jack and Chris Morrison think about the ways that Blake and Northrop influenced their lives, they don't just tap into their own student memories. They also remember the remarkable experiences that their two children had. Art Saunders '69 Memorial Scoreboard

Arthur "Art" Saunders treasured his experiences playing hockey for Blake and then later serving as a coach for the team. In the past several years, his love of the game has continued through his family. When it came time to plan improvements for the Blake Ice Arena, Art's family and friends came together to honor his legacy through the Art Saunders Memorial Scoreboard. Read more

New Middle School Director Named

Chaka Cummings will be joining Blake as Middle School director beginning July 1, 2017. He brings a breadth of experience in middle school education as an administrator and teacher. Read more


Michael Bazzett Receives NEA Creative Writing Fellowship

The National Endowment for the Arts has announced that Blake faculty member Michael Bazzett is one of 37 writers to receive a 2017 individual creative writing fellowships of $25,000. Read more
